“PHASE L” is a danced ritual based on elements of breaking. The setting is the circle, the cypher, which is created by both the four dancers and the audience. Individuality versus uniformity, the development of one’s own style in the context of fixed dance sequences and expectations, the search for unity in a competitive dance and the breaking up of complex step sequences and rhythms are negotiated.<\/p>\n\n
We are searching, we want to participate and let others participate. The audience is invited to become part of a session whose power lies in raw energy, immediacy and direct access. A ritual, our ritual.<\/p>\n\n
